Producers Guild of India Releases Statement Post Meeting On Sexual Harassment At Workplace

Bollywood is buzzing with the ongoing #MeToo movement where many celebrities have come forward and shared their sufferings for which they kept quiet for so long. The age of social media left no stone unturned for the movement in shaming the accusers of those who have been sexually harassed.

Recently, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao attended the Producers Guild for a special meeting to discuss ways to make the industry safer for women. Now a statement from the meeting has made its way to the media, which mentions the modus operandi of the gathering. Revealing that the meeting held on October 10 was resolved immediately, the Producers Guild of India has set up a special committee within the Guild to address the issue of sexual harassment at the workplace within their industry. 

The Guild also stated that specialised workshops with the support of professional agencies will guide members on how to implement robust processes and best practices to deal with sexual harassment whether in their officers or on the sets of their productions. Read the full statement here:

Following the back-to-back accusations against celebrities, on Tuesday, the Producers Guild of India released a statement which read, 

"Producers Guild of India extends its complete support to the movement to call out and report sexual harassment and abuse whenever and wherever it occurs in our industry. We believe that there is an urgent need to set up a robust process to ensure the highest standards of safety for employees and crew members at the workplace - whether in offices or on sets of productions. We are instituting a committee within the Guild to lead this effort, and we are determined to stay the course till workplaces in the industry are safe spaces for Everyone."
