Sehmat gets married to an officer in Pakistan. In one of the instances in the movie, her in-law's abuse her nation. When her husband says that his family forgets that she is from India, she says the line to build trust in her husband and show affection.

In the movie, Sehmat’s father tells her about his plan of sending her to Pakistan as a spy for India. Her father expresses his feeling that according to him this is wrong. Sehmat replies that if this is wrong, then sending sons of Indian families to the border to protect the nation is also wrong.
