Bollywood actor Radhika Apte is all set to feature alongside actors Charlie Hunnam and Richard Roxburgh in Apple TV's upcoming series 'Shantaram'. As per media reports, the web series is based on Gregory David Roberts' bestselling novel of the same name.

Shantaram

The plot of 'Shantaram' is reportedly set in India and tells the story of Lin (Hunnam), a man on the run from an Australian prison looking to get lost in the teeming city of Mumbai. Cut off from family and friends by distance and fate, he finds a new life in the slums, bars, and underworld of India. As per media reports, Shantaram, which hails from Anonymous Content and Paramount Television, will feature Radhika Apte and Richard Roxburgh as regulars.

Radhika Apte, 34, who most recently featured in 'The Wedding Guest' alongside Dev Patel, will portray Kavita, a driven Indian journalist looking for answers in Shantaram. Richard Roxburgh, 57, best known for starring in films such as 'Mission: Impossible 2' and 'Moulin Rouge!', reportedly will essay the role of Detective Sergeant Marty Nightingale in Shantaram, who works for the Australian Federal Police and is part of a small, elite unit trained for the pursuit and capture of escaped convicts.

As per media reports, 'American Hustle' singer Eric Warren has penned Shantaram, while Justin Kurzel is all set to helm the first two episodes. The duo will also executive produce the show along with Dave Erickson, Anonymous Content's Steve Golin, Paramount TV president Nicole Clemens, Andrea Barron, and Richard Sharkey. The project is expected to start production next month in Australia and India.

Radhika Apte on the professional front 

Radhika Apte who received huge appreciation for her performance in Sriram Raghavan's National Award-winning venture 'Andhadhun', co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Tabu, recently during an exclusive interview with Republic Media Network had revealed that she is shooting for a feature film at the moment and also has a couple of series in her kitty.

"I have started shooting for a feature now and I have a couple of series but I can't announce anything as of yet," Radhika Apte said.

Meanwhile, Radhika Apte will also be starring in ‘Raat Akeli Hai’ co-starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and will be directed by Honey Trehan. The film, a crime thriller, also features Shweta Tripathi Sharma.
