Rajkummar Rao: The actor speaks about his interest in martial arts

Not many people know that Rajkummar Rao is a trained martial artist. The actor has always proved himself in his comedy-dramas as well as his intense roles in movies. But he is yet to do an action film. The actor started learning the art of Taekwondo at an early age. He excelled in Taekwondo and dance before turning towards acting. The actor recently worked in Prakash Kovelamudi’s Judgementall Hai Kya which hit the theatres in July.

Rajkummar Rao and Taekwondo

The actor is formally trained in Taekwondo and is a national level gold medalist. Although his Taekwondo prowess is not yet seen on-screen, the actor hopes he will get a chance to display his art on screen. Speaking to an entertainment portal, Rajkummar Rao said that he learned dancing to help him with his acting. He precisely said that it helps to understand the rhythm and beat. The actor said that he is stoked to showcase his skills on-screen if he receives the opportunity. He also shared this video of practicing ‘Shaolin soccer’ on Instagram. 

Rao is currently busy with promoting his movie Made in China. This is the movie where he plays the role of a Gujarati businessman. The movie is set to release in October 2019. Rajkummar has said that he blended with the Gujarati culture and even learned the language for the movie. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Mikhail Musale, the movie also stars Mouni Roy and Boman Irani in significant roles. Rao is very thrilled about the release.

The Taekwondo practicer has a lot on his plate as of now. He is involved in several projects. Rajkummar Rao has carved a niche for himself and is now one of the most popular actors in the Hindi film industry. Apart from Made In China, his other upcoming movies are Roohi Afza and Turram Khan.
