Ranbir Kapoor kick-started his acting career with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s romantic drama Saawariya opposite Sonam Kapoor. Now one of the highest-paid actors, Ranbir had assisted Bhansali in the film Black. Born to Neetu and Rishi Kapoor, Ranbir grew to prominence after the success of his coming-of-age comedy film Wake Up Sid in 2009. Over time, the Rockstar actor has earned several accolades. Awards and Accolades

The actor made his acting debut with Saawariya. He received appreciation for the tragic romantic film including a Filmfare Award for Best Male debut and an IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year. Ranbir Kapoor went on to earn critical praise for his brilliant performances in 2009 for Wake Up Sid, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, and Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year. His work in these three films earned him the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor.

The actor got recognised for his mind-blowing character in political thriller drama Raajneeti which stars an ensemble cast of Ajay Devgn, Nana Patekar, Naseeruddin Shah, Manoj Bajpayee, Katrina Kaif, and Arjun Rampal in pivotal roles. The Prakash Jha directed movie earned him the best actor nominations at several award functions. In 2012, Kapoor won Filmfare Award for Best Actor and Critics Award for Best Actor for Rockstar. Imtiaz Ali’s musical drama stars Ranbir alongside Nargis Fakhri in the lead role.

In the same year, the Wake Up Sid actor received his second Filmfare Award for Best Actor for Barfi!. This Anurag Basu’s comedy-drama presents Kapoor as a deaf-mute man who eventually falls in love with an autistic girl Jhilmil. Barfi! emerged as a huge commercial success in India and overseas.

Later on, the actor won applause for Ye Jawaani Hai Deewani. The romantic comedy film co-starring Kalki Koechlin, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Deepika Padukone alongside Ranbir Kapoor was a blockbuster hit of 2013. This Ayan Mukerji directed movie became Kapoor’s biggest commercial success so far, as his other films including Tamasha received mixed reviews. Ye Jawaani Hai Deewani established Kapoor as one of Bollywood's leading contemporary actors.

Upcoming Projects

Ranbir Kapoor is working on his upcoming projects including Brahmastra and Shamshera. Helmed by Ayan Mukerji, Brahmastra stars Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, and Akkineni Nagarjuna in prominent roles. The first part of the superhero trilogy film is expected to release in 2020. On the other hand, Kapoor will also cast in action-adventure packed film Shamshera alongside Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt. Set in the 1800s, this Karan Malhotra’s directorial film will release on July 31, 2020.
