Ranveer Singh’s facial hair in his movies has an interesting story. Some of his breakthrough performances, but the subtler ones, saw him in a clean-shaven or stubbled look, like Band Baaja Baraat, Lootera, Dil Dhadakne Do and Gully Boy. He flaunted a heavy beard for Padmaavat, his career’s highest-grossing film. The films that minted big money, and those where he was seen as more intense and 'massy' character, saw him with a moustache like Gunday, Goliyon Ki Rasleela:Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Simmba. The actor had been flaunting his moustache over the past few months, since he began the shooting for ‘83. However, now it seems that he is gearing up for another venture as he finally got rid of his moustache. It’s likely that he could be preparing his look for the multi-starrer Takht.
New look
Ranveer Singh, on Monday, was spotted exiting a sports club in Bandra, Mumbai. The actor was dressed in a black hoodie and black track pants, and had company. What stood out about the look, was that he was no longer flaunting his twirled moustache anymore, and but was seen with a light stubble. The actor was at his usual self, as he greeted his fans on the way out, right till the time he got into his car.
Ranveer recently completed the shooting of ‘83, where he plays the role of Kapil Dev and the movie traces his journey of lifting India’s maiden World Cup honour. Apart from ‘83, Ranveer Singh has signed two more films. One is obviously, Karan Johar’s period drama Takht, and the other is his mentor Aditya Chopra’s production Jayeshbhai Jordaar. However, since reports of Takht going on floors soon have been doing the rounds, it is likely he could developing the look for the same. Ranveer Singh is reportedly set to play Dara Shikoh, one of the names from the Mughal Era. It’d be interesting to see what look he’d be flaunting in the movie.
Meanwhile, Ranveer’s Gully Boy was announced as India’s official entry to the Academy Awards for next year. The movie was also his only release for this year, and was a success, earning close to Rs 140 crore at the domestic box office. The movie directed by Zoya Akhtar, featured him as a rapper.
