You say ‘quirky’ and the first name that might spring to your mind would be Ranveer Singh today. While the film reportedly opened to a packed house at the screening where co-star Alia Bhatt and director Zoya Akhtar were also present, the ‘Padmaavat’ star’s fur jacket having the film’s name among other tags like ‘Dream’, 'What you seek is seeking you’ did catch attention at the event.
The 33-year-old took to Instagram and described himself in his latest look as the ‘Gangsta of Love.’
Manish Arora is the brain behind the jacket, and the designer reveals that the jacket is not just a fashion statement, but holds a significant message as well. He says that the unconventional outfit stands for freedom and success particularly for someone who’s beaten the odds like Ranveer’s character Murad, an aspiring rapper, in the film.
"Anyone who is unconventional be in fashion or music or film, they make it to success because they believe in themselves. Only then will the world believe in them. This jacket is a culmination of these ideas. It's an association with my days of struggle. It's unconventional and just like anyone who has made it in life despite the odds, much like the character Ranveer is playing in Gully Boy. The jacket symbolises freedom, a reminder that we are rare and our own heroes!" Manish says.
'Gully Boy', produced by Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, hits the theatres on 14 February.
