Saaho movie poster in plagiarism row, artist Shilo Shiv Suleman reacts
Saaho, the movie has found itself in a controversy after the Instagram-watchdog DietSabya called them out for plagiarising an artwork in their movie poster.
Saaho, a movie featuring Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor released to the audience this Friday, however, that is not the only news making the headlines. The movie has found itself in a controversy after the Instagram-watchdog DietSabya called them out for plagiarising.
One of the movie’s posters which shows Prabhas and Shraddha holding hands with a background of lotuses stemming out from the dust into the pink sky, is actually artist Shilo Shiv Suleman’s biofeedback installation called the pulse and bloom.

Pulse and Bloom, an interactive and social art installation, had received the Burning Man Honorarium Art Grant in 2014 and has been featured in a host of international publications. The artwork visualizes participants’ heartbeats and invites people to share and sync their human heartbeats in a rhythmic pattern.

Shilo Shiv Suleman is a visual artist with a focus on the intersection of magical realism and technology. She has designed award-winning apps, interactive installations, and artworks across the world. She’s been chosen as one of the 3 Pioneering Indian Women at TEDGlobal, and spoken at conferences like WIRED, DLD and more. Most recently she started a ‘Fearless Collective’ of over 300 artists in India using community art to protest gender violence in India for which she was featured in a host of documentaries.
Her artwork - Pulse and Bloom made for the Burning Man festival, consisted of 20 lotuses of varying heights of 10 to 14 feet with pulse sensors mounted on the base of the stem. Each lotus was equipped with two pulse sensors, each located on a Hamsa Hand, that when pressed by one or two participants translates the participants' heartbeat into pulsing LED lights within the lotus, visually projecting their heart into the flower in the sky.
About the film:
Saaho revolves around an outlaw, played by Prabhas and a police officer, played by Shraddha Kapoor. Apart from the two, the film stars Jackie Shroff, Mandira Bedi, Chunky Panday, Arun Vijay, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Mahesh Manjrekar, Lal, Evelyn Sharma, among others. Saaho, produced by UV Creations, is released in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, while the Hindi version is presented by T-Series.
