Womaniya- the initial title before Saand Ki Aankh
According to various reports the film’s producer Anurag Kashyap had named it ‘Womaniya’ in the pre-production stage. However, this invited several legal implications from Anurag’s former directorial Gangs of Wasseypur and its parent company. Pritish Nandy claimed that the word ‘Womaniya’ is registered under his company. Anurag Kashyap said that he has intellectual rights over the word as he has coined the term. Both the B-Town biggies were up against each other. Anurag had also tweeted that he will not be paying the alleged fine that Nandy had issued towards him. Towards the end of this scuffle, Anurag had to give up the name. The production team then went ahead with Saand Ki Aankh, the translation of which to English is 'Bullseye'. The reel life characters are seen hitting the bullseye various times with ease. In the film trailer as well the term ‘Bullseye’ is a reoccurring word uttered by the leads Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar.
