Shah Rukh Khan: Is SRK being replaced in Don 3 and by whom?

Shah Rukh Khan is again in the rumour-mill about his casting in the third instalment of the Don franchise. There are speculations about Farhan Akhtar-directed Don having a third instalment, Don 3. During an interview with PTI in 2017, Ritesh Sidhwani, the producer, commented that the makers had finally zeroed in on a story for Don 3 and that scripting was in process. However, two years have passed, but there is no sign of the movie to be seen on floors. Fans are still quizzing whether SRK will be seen in Don 3 or no. Earlier this year, rumours of Ranveer Singh stepping in Don’s shoes were widely reported. When Farhan Akhtar was asked to make a comment about the rumour, he stated that he was tired of answering questions about Don 3 and Shah Rukh’s casting for the role. People could assume whatever they want and he was not responsible for any such news. He also added that he will have an announcement or statement if anything is official, and he would not have anything to hide. Farhan’s statement is hard to decode as he made it quite diplomatic. Later, when the media bombarded Zoya Akhtar with the same question, she rejected the news of Ranveer Singh playing Don in Don 3 as being absolute nonsense. She was also asked whether Shah Rukh Khan is collaborating with the home crew, and she denied talking about it. Zoya said she is not Farhan Akhtar or Shah Rukh Khan or Ritesh Sidhwani to comment on anything related to the film. Zoya Akhtar’s denial on speaking about Don 3’s production has surely left fans in disappointment and curiosity. While the rumours of Ranveer Singh replacing Shah Rukh Khan were circulating, an insider reported that the Don franchise would have to shut down. Farhan Akhtar has no script and not even an idea for a plot to do another Don film. They also added that he is busy with his acting and music career. He has not directed any film for the last nine years and his last directorial venture was Don 2 in 2011. However, nothing is made official by any of the parties involved. Well, it looks like the audience has to wait for any official announcement to be made by either of the actors regarding Don 3.
