Shruti Haasan on braving alcohol addiction: Took a break to quit, heal
Shruti Haasan, in a popular chat show titled 'Feet Up With The Stars Telugu' opened up about her alcohol addiction. Read below to know what she said
Shruti Haasan in a popular chat show titled 'Feet Up With The Stars Telugu' opened up about her alcohol addiction and stated that she was a 'big-time whiskey lover' but is now taking a break and staying sober. Providing details, she said that she decided to take a break and stop everything and that it was a 'new change' for her. On being asked if she told anybody about her condition, Haasan claimed that she 'did not share her illness with outsiders of friends and that she underwent a medical condition, and was trying to heal herself.

Apart from braving her alcohol addiction, she also addressed her break-up with Micheal Corsale. Opening up about it, she said that she was the 'cool type', and was quite 'innocent'. Pitching it as an overall good experience for her, she said, "Good people are good at good times and the same people are bad at times. But I have no regrets. But I always look for that one great love and I will be happy to announce that this is the one I have been waiting for".
Meanwhile, the actress recently made headlines when she spoke about how extremely important it is for women to be financially independent. The actor said women shouldn't be dependent on anyone and she herself saw a lot of changes in her life when she became financially independent.
"Financial independence of a woman is extremely important. When I was 20 I realised I don't want to be dependent on anyone else, I want to be answerable only to myself. Even if I have to answer, I should be able to do it with independence and strength," Shruti said."For that financial independence is necessary. I saw that a lot of changes happened in my life with this," she added.
The actor was speaking during her visit to the 'RPG foundation', an NGO committed towards women empowerment. Shruti said it is weird that women still have to fight for their rights and safety via protests and marches which happen across the world.
