It is the festival of new beginnings, the season of new films, and a blizzard of promotions in B-town. It is not a new phenomenon for Bollywood celebrities to promote their films during Navratra and Garba nights, the most recent addition to the club being Siddharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria. To promote their film Marjaavaan, which will be released on November 22, the stars were seen in Ahmedabad, dancing to the festivities in Garba style. The fans at the event also posted a video of the two twisting to the sound of Garba festivities. While Sidharth was sporting a green kurta to match the vibe, bubbling fashionista Tara pulled off the ethnic look with a minimalist yellow suit paired with silver bangles. The 'Student of the Year' debutants made sure that the crowd had a good time with them.
Garba: A promotion vehicle
Reports claim that Sidharth and Tara were there to promote Marjaavan, directed by Milap Zaveri. Zaveri has previously written for films like Grand Masti and Ek Villain. Based on the trailer that was released only last week, one surmises that the film is about a Hindu boy (played by Sidharth) falling in love with a Muslim girl (played by Tara). What's more, Tara plays a mute character in the movie. Another facet to look forward to is Ritesh Deshmukh, who will be playing the antagonist for the second time in his career. The actor, who is known for his comic roles, last played a villain five year ago in Ek Villan. The hero-antihero duo between Siddharth and Tara was previously seen on-screen in the same movie, which also starred Shraddha Kapoor.
While Sidharth and Tara are one of the first this season to promote their movie at a Garba celebration, this trend is certainly not a new one. In 2017, Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Tapsee Pannu made an appearance on Falguni Pathak's Garba dance event to promote their movie Judwaa 2. A few years ago, Hrithik Roshan made an appearance on one such event and even treated the audience with a dance. Certainly, the stars (lightyears away) seem to shine upon the stars (limelights away) who promote their movies in this most auspicious of seasons.
