Sonakshi Sinha made headlines on Sunday morning after an event organiser in Delhi told the media that the actress allegedly didn't perform at an event in Delhi despite accepting Rs. 37 lakhs for the same.
The complainant told ANI, “I tried convincing her a lot to perform at the event and even told her that I will incur huge losses if she doesn’t come, but she refused to perform.”
Sonakshi Sinha has now released a statement via her spokesperson to clarify her stand. The statement reads: "Sonakshi is a thorough professional and has no reason to walk away from any commitment she makes. Sonakshi was approached by the event organizers in Delhi to be their chief guest. However, despite repeated reminders, the organizers failed to have the dues cleared till the last day. This is payable to Sonakshi for her professional commitment and along with the dues, they didn't even send the return tickets to the team, putting everyone in tough spot since she had a shoot the next morning."
"They remained incommunicado with Sonakshi's team till the last minute despite all of the above and she hence decided to give it one last try by going to the airport. Unfortunately, despite abiding by her professional codes, she had to come back home from the airport because the organizers just weren't responding and updating them. Being someone who believes is everyone holding up their end of a bargain, she wasn't pleased about the lack of commitment showcased from their end and hence her team was forced to take a stand against attending the event."
The statement also said: "Ever since that day, Sonakshi's management agency has been trying to reach out to the organiser to find an amicable solution to the extent of offering an alternate date and tried to connect but to no avail. The organizer is now using the media to release false and manipulated facts. If the organiser doesn't stop at this, Sonakshi and her team will be forced to take a legal course of action to set this straight. We request media to not let anyone use their platform without looking into the facts."
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Sonakshi's special dance number 'Mungda' in Ajay Devgn's 'Total Dhamaal' left the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and music director Rajesh Roshan frustrated as the rehashed remix didn't justify the original song.
Sonakshi will be seen next in multi-starrer venture 'Kalank'. The period drama is directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala, and Fox Star Studios. Beside Sonakshi, the film also stars Madhuri Dixit, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Kunal Khemu, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles.
