Just a few days after Sushant Singh Rajput's film Drive was released on Netflix instead of a theatrical release. It is being speculated that his next film Dil Bechara will also be heading straight to an OTT platform instead of theatres. His recent OTT release Drive was received very poorly by viewers as the film lacked good content. Dil Bechara, an official remake of The Fault In Our Stars was scheduled to release on November 2019 but no details were further revealed about its release.
Dil Bechara to release on an OTT platform?
According to recent reports, the film was found to be too depressing for mass audiences and will drop straight on an OTT platform. It is rumoured that producers Fox studios, who also co-produced Drive are considering dumping Dil Bechara to an OTT platform. It was revealed that the film missed its November 2019 release date as last-minute changes are being made. The post-production team reportedly requires extra time to deliver the film.
Dil Bechara is an Indian remake of the 2014 film The Fault In Our Stars which revolves around two terminally ill people who fall in love with each other. The original book was based on a novel written by John Green which published in 2012. A source close to the film reportedly stated that releasing the film on OTT platform will prove a double blow for Sushant Singh Rajput. Debutant actor Sanjana Sanghi is all set to make a debut with the film, also casting director Mukesh Chhabra will be making a directorial debut with the film. The OTT platform release can prove disastrous for all talent concerned. Fans concerned about the film's release have spoken up on Twitter asking the production house to give some updates.
Postproduction of your movies takes too much time buddy. Seeing the situation I really doubt that you'll have any other release in 2020 except #DilBechara even if you are going to shoot in Jan. Small projects for OTT-platform ( between the shoots of your next) might help @itsSSR

"apparently #DilBechara was found to be too depressing for mass consumption" if its depressing or good only audience can decide after watching the trailer.
