'Well deserved': Farhan Akhtar and Javed Akhtar congratulate Zoya Akhtar on being invited as an Oscar Academy member
After Zoya Akhtar was invited as an Oscar Academy member, proud father Javed Akhtar and brother Farhan Akhtar exuded their happiness on social media.

'Gully Boy' director Zoya Akhtar recently made the country proud after being invited as a member of the Oscars Academy. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced a list of new members and invited four Indian film personalities including Anurag Kashyap, Anupam Kher, Zoya Akhtar, and Ritesh Batra to join the organization.
Following the same, Zoya's father and veteran playwright Javed Akhtar penned a heartfelt post on Twitter congratulating her. The proud father who is overwhelmed by his daughter's achievement exuded his happiness on social media and wrote, "I am sure that fellow Indians will be happy and proud to know that my daughter Zoya Akhtar who is a well-known writer-director has been offered the membership of Oscar academy which is rare honour."

Not only her father but her brother and actor Farhan Akhtar also congratulated the filmmaker for her new stint. Sharing a report in regard to his sister's entry to the Academy, Farhan wrote, "Congratulations @zoieakhtar .. ❤️ .. well deserved .. happy for you and proud of you. 😘😘"

Zoya who is known for her out-of-the-box projects is remarkable for helming films like 'Luck By Chance', 'Dil Dhadakne Do', 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' and 'Gully Boy'. Other than Bollywood, Zoya has also tried her hands at Netflix's 'Lust Stories' and streaming giant Amazon prime's 'Made in Heaven'.
Meanwhile, a total of 842 artists from as many as 59 countries were invited to join The Academy this year. Beside Zoya, the other film personalities representing India in the international platform will be Anurag Kashyap, Ritesh Batra, actor Anupam Kher.
However, this year only 4 celebs got the invite, while last year 20 Indian film personalities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Naseeruddin Shah, Aditya Chopra, Ali Fazal, Anil Kapoor, and Tabu, were invited to join the organization. Indian film producer Guneet Monga, whose film titled 'Period. End of Sentence' bagged Oscar for Best Documentary (Short Subject) at this year's Oscars, was also among the invitees of 2018.
