Miss World is the said to be the oldest running beauty pageant. It is one of the Big Four international beauty pageants. More than 20 countries participants in the contest. India, tied with Venezuela, has the highest number of Miss World titleholders. The winner gets a lot of attention as they wins the contest. But what happens after that and where are they now? Where Miss Worlds from India are doing today
Reita Faria
In 1966, the first Indian woman to win the title was Reita Faria. After winning the contest, she took her decision which was different from others. Reita decided to give it all up and went to complete her MBBS degree. She became the first Miss World winner to qualify as a doctor. She married Dr David Powell and moved to Dublin. At present, she lives there with her husband, two kids and five grandkids, as per reports.
Aishwarya Rai
Winning the Miss World 1994 pageant, Aishwarya Rai continued her career in modelling. She then made her debut in Bollywood with Aur Pyaar Ho Gaye in 1997. There is no turning back from then and she became one of the most admired actors in the industry. She acted in Tollywood, Bollywood and also Hollywood industry. Aishwarya took a break from acting after she got married. However, she made a comeback eventually.
Diana Hayden
The 1997 Miss World title was won by Diana Hayden. After that, she was signed up to endorse big brands in India. She appeared in a few movies but could not make it big in Bollywood. She has been associated with several charities which includes PETA. Diana was seen as a contestant in reality TV show Bigg Boss. Diana has also written a book called A Beautiful Guide. She has three children and is a social worker.
Yukta Mookhey
Miss World 1999 was won by Yukta Mookhey. She has appeared in several films but they did not perform well at the box office. She became a member of the political party Bharatiya Janata Party. Yukta is a social worker and has also donated her organs, as mentioned by her in an interview.
Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra was crowned as the winner of Miss World in 2000. After that, she made her Bollywood debut with The Hero: Love Story of a Spy in 2003. Since, then she has been moving upwards in her acting career, being an inspiration to many. Priyanka is among the highest-paid actors in the industry. She is now a global icon and working in both Bollywood and Hollywood industry.
Manushi Chhillar
After the gap of 17 years, an Indian Manushi Chillar became Miss World in 2017. She is also a doctor by profession. Manushi has been a brand ambassador for many brands. She is currently planning her debut in Bollywood as she believes she has an actor in her, as mentioned by her in an interview with a daily.
