Yami Gautam: Supriya in Kaabil or Ashima in Vicky Donor?

Yami Gautam began her journey in the industry with her debut film Vicky Donor. Since then, Yami has reportedly seen her ups and downs in the industry. According to the box office stats, Yami's films like Sanam Re, Junooniyat, Badla and few more did not do well with her critics. The actor's Bollywood journey saw a rocket-rise after she starred in Sanjay Gupta's Kaabil and Shoojit Sircar's Vicky Donor. The two films were a major success at the box office. Yami essays the character of Ashima in Vicky Donor and plays the role of Supriya in Kaabil. Here is how both her characters are completely different, yet are considered as her best roles in the industry by fans.

Yami's essays the character of Supriya in Kaabil, who is blind. In the film, she falls in love with a man who is blind too. The story of the film revolves around the fact that even though the two are blind, the duo connects through their sense of emotions and body language. Yami's fans caught sight of the purest side of her and went gaga over her charming personality in the film. Kaabil saw an overall rating of 7.1 on IMDb. In an interview, Sanjay Gupta, the director of the film revealed that Yami dwelled into the character like a perfectionist.

Yami plays the role of Ashima Roy in Vicky Donor. Ashima is a Bengali woman who is a divorcee. At a later stage, she realises that the man she is in love with- Vicky Arora, essayed by Ayushmann Khurrana, is an enthusiastic sperm donor. The main reason why Yami's character in Vicky Donor was truly loved by her fans was that even though her parents are completely against Ayushmann's work, she still stuck around him. She signified a very important message through her character that sometimes taking one-step could change someone's life. Yami happily agrees to her lover's choices in the film and Vicky Donor as her debut film proved to be a great opener for the actor.

Yami Gautam's upcoming projects

Yami Gautam has reunited with Ayushmann Khurrana again for her upcoming flick Bala which will reportedly chronicle the story of a man who balds prematurely. Yami and Khurrana will share their screen space after seven years. On the other end, Yami recently signed her next film Ginny Weds Sunny, alongside Chhapaak actor Vikrant Massey. Would Yami Gautam's characters in her upcoming movies be as loved as her characters in Kaabil and Vicky Donor?
