Legendary filmmaker Ang Lee is on a search to know how the digital cinema will change the world for which he says he is learning to speak in that language. Lee said that with each film, beginning with Life of Pi, he has been searching for what digital cinema can do for the filmmakers. He said that digital cinema is a new language and he is on his way to learn that language properly. He added that digital cinema is a new experience which is distinct from others, which has a different process and different final movie. The Taiwanese filmmaker is one of the biggest names in the film industry with three academy awards to his name.
A milestone to reach
Lee said that cinema has just begun and there is a milestone to reach the way silent movies came, then sound, then colour. The famous director said that the budding technology has affected the way he directs his actors working for him. He said that many times, he would give the performer a motivation by saying that the actor has a task of permanence. Elaborating on the statement, the director said that apart from a performance, one has other thoughts so he pitches them a lot more of them.
Lee's step to digital cinema with Gemini Man
The filmmaker went a step ahead with his quest to find a digital cinema with Gemini Man, which features Will Smith in a double role. The film premiered at around 3000 locations on its opening day, according to foreign media reports. The film is highly dependent on 3D graphics, animation, and VFX. In the movie, Smith plays the role of an elite assassin who becomes the target of a mysterious operative who can seemingly predict his every move. He soon learns that the man who is trying to kill him is a younger, faster and cloned version of himself.
