George Clooney on Hollywood strike: Want to be part of the solution, not the problem
"My hope is - I feel as if everybody understands that it's time to get on with it. But we're all in support of a decent and fair wage", says George Clooney.
Both the WGA (the writers’ union) and SAG-AFTRA (the actors’ union) went on strike over a labour dispute with the AMPTP ( the bargaining representative for Hollywood’s major studios and production companies). The Hollywood strike began in May and SAG-AFTRA has been on strike since July. Amid this situation, actor George Clooney backed the striking Hollywood actors and writers while addressing the Digital X conference in Germany and came out in "support of a decent and fair wage."

During the event in Germany, George Clooney talked about the ongoing Hollywood strikes and said, "No one wants to hear me talk about being unfair, right? Because I'm very, I've had a very lucky career. But our industry in 160,000 actors, for instance, and they're struggling to make a living just to eat. so, and they weren't and many of them were making a very decent living before doing the exact same job. So, it's right to stand up. I think we're going to get through this soon."

"My hope is - I feel as if everybody understands that it's time to get on with it. But we're all in support of a decent and fair wage. That seems fair, you know, along the way. And I think a lot of actors who have been very successful over time have been pitching in to try and make sure that we're part of the solution and not part of the problem," he added.
Will the Hollywood strike come to an end?
Negotiations between striking screenwriters and Hollywood studios have resumed and will continue Thursday, the latest attempt to bring an end to pickets that have brought film and television productions to a halt. The two sides have been divided on issues of pay, the size of writing staffs on shows and the use of artificial intelligence in how scripts are created. Actors, who joined the writers on strike in July, have their own issues but there have been no discussions about resuming negotiations with their union yet.
