'He's right', says Francis Ford Coppola on Martin Scorsese's remarks

In support of filmmaker Martin Scorsese's recent comment on the Marvel superhero movies, 'The Godfather' director Francis Ford Coppola said that Martin is right to compare superhero films to theme parks. 

Coppola released his opinion days after Scorsese made his statement at a press conference that Marvel films are "not cinema" and have diminished the true essence to real cinema, comparing them to theme parks. Agreeing with the director's comments, Coppola, as quoted by Deadline, said, "When Martin Scorsese says that the Marvel pictures are not cinema, he's right.

Scorsese urges theatres to show more "narrative films”

Justifying his statement, he said that people expect to learn and gain knowledge, get Enlighted and gain some inspiration from cinema. He also added that he doesn’t understand what people learn for watching a film over and over again. He concluded his statement by saying that Martin was still being very kind by saying that it's not cinema, at least he didn’t say its despicable, which he might like to call it.

Scorsese's remarks on Marvel movies raged huge criticism in the Industry and Marvel film actors including Karen Gillan, Kevin Smith among others. According to reports, Scorsese again slammed the superhero films and urged the theatres worldwide to show more "narrative films”.  

Speaking at a press conference last week alongside Robert De Niro and Al Pacino ahead of 'The Irishman's' closing-night screening at the BFI London Film Festival, the director said that superhero films not realistic cinema, it's something else and people’s choices shouldn't be invaded by it.

Jennifer Aniston on Marvel movies

In a recent interview with an international publication, Jennifer Aniston said that she misses the old cinema, the one without Marvel movies. She also stated that currently, she's focusing on acting in Television rather than movies and that she has been observing it for years that the quality of stuff streaming on television is way better than what she did in the past.
