The Batman: Westworld star Jeffrey Wright to play Commissioner Gordon

Jeffrey Wright has portrayed some brilliant and memorable roles over the last few decades. The actor is best remembered for his portrayal of Bernard Lowe in HBO series Westworld and Belize in HBO miniseries Angels in America. The Emmy Award winner has now been roped in to play an important part in the upcoming movie The Batman. The news has created a lot of buzz among Batman fans.

Director Matt Reeves recently confirmed the news by posting it on his social media account. Jeffrey Wright will be seen as Commissioner Gordon in the movie opposite Robert Pattinson. The character has been mostly featured in every Batman movie which makes it an important part of the story as well. The role was previously played by Gary Oldman in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy. The character of Batman is one of the most popular fictional characters in the history of comics and is very popular among teenagers for fighting against crime. The film will also feature Paul Dano as Riddler and Zoe Kravitz in the role of Catwoman. Both the characters have received enough love and appreciation from the audience till now. No other official announcements have been made by the makers of the movie yet. The Batman will be written and directed by Matt Reeves. It will hit the screens on June 25, 2021. The movie is still on its pre-production stage and will go on floors soon. The project will be produced by Matt Reeves and Dylan Clark. It will also be co-produced by Warner Bros.

Jeffrey Wright has a long list of projects ahead. The actor will be also seen in Steven Soderbergh’s drama film The Laundromat and Warner Bros’ adaptation of The Goldfinch. He is also a part of the next film of the James Bond series, No Time to Die and Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch. Wright has received critical acclaim and recognition for his portrayal of strong characters in TV series as well as films which have fetched him various awards and nominations over the years.
