Jennifer Lopez recreates iconic Grammy Awards dress, Google rejoices
Jennifer Lopez, 50, recreated her iconic green dress look that led to the invention of Google images. She first wore the outfit at the Grammy's in 2000
American singer, actor and businesswoman Jennifer Lopez has recreated the trend with her iconic green dress that led to the invention of Google images. First worn by Lopez in February 2000, the Versace green dress, according to Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, stimulated the invention of google images because it led to many people searching about the dress after Lopez wore it to the Grammy award show.
Lopez's dress invented google images
According to Schmidt, the footage of Lopez modelling the modern version of the dress at Versace's S/S 2020 show has been viewed more than a record-breaking two million times on social media.
She made thousands of fans and viewers revisit memories after she brought back the dress at Friday's show, at Milan Fashion Week. According to vogue, the final few models in the show walked up to the ramp, modelling at Lopez’s song ‘Love don’t cost a thing’. Subsequently, a montage of Google Image searches for the original Grammy's dress was projected on to the walls and presented as a tribute to the dress from 2000. Imitating a random voice calling out Alexa, somebody from behind the stage announced, "OK, Google. Now show me the real dress." Immediately after, the Hollywood actor and singer walked in amidst great cheering.
Google's initial days
According to sources, Google started with just text initially but the co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin later decided to start with Google images because they felt that people needed more than just monotonous text.
