Maleficent: Angelina's transformation is magical

Maleficent 2: Mistress of Evil starring Angelina Jolie in the titular role and Elle Fanning as Aurora is all set to release on October 18. Angelina Jolie’s prosthetics expert Rick Baker spilled the details about creating this Maleficent look in 2019. Even Disney IT shared a time-lapse video of the stunning transformation of Angelina Jolie to Maleficent the mistress of Evil.

Angelina Jolie’s look in Maleficent 2: Mistress of Evil

Maleficent 2: Mistress of Evil is all set to hit the theatre on October 18. Since the release of the first instalment of the Maleficent franchise the fans of the original Maleficent appreciated Angelina’s look of the Disney villain. In an interview with a media publication, Angelina Jolie’s prosthetics artist for the film, Rick Baker, talked about the creation of the iconic look. Rick stated that it was not hard to make that (Angelina Jolie) face beautifully.

 But the artist also talked about his discussions with Angelina about Maleficent’s look. He said that Angelina had extremely specific ideas regarding her character. According to him, she wanted her to look to portray Maleficent as a creature, so it helps in giving a realistic touch to her world. Rick further stated that Angelina insisted on using prosthetics for this purpose, hence prosthetics were placed on her cheekbones and nose. Vivid coloured eye contact lenses were also to add a worldly vision to her look.

In the video shared by Disney IT, the entire transformation of Angelina’s Maleficent look has been documented. The prosthetics mentioned by Rick Baker being added to Angelina’s face can also be seen. One of the major details that have been presented in this video is the process of adding those iconic Maleficent horns. The video comes to an end with the addition of the red lip to complete this transformation of Angelina Jolie into Maleficent the self-proclaimed mistress of evil.

Angelina Jolie’s look as compared to Disney’s Maleficent live-action film is similar in many ways but certain differences are highly noticeable. The red lipstick stays constant in both these evil ladies. Maleficent from the Sleeping Beauty film can be seen in her violet robe, Angelina is in a pitch-black outfit. Even the shape of their horns slightly differ. It will be interesting to see how this second instalment of the film works its magic at the box-office and will it become as iconic as its live-action films.
