Mexico: Fans gather to bid adieu to 'Prince of Song' Jose Jose

Thousands of upset fans gathered in Mexico City on Oct 9 to say their last goodbye to Mexican singer Jose Jose who passed away last month in a Florida Hospital.

Thousands of upset fans gathered in Mexico City on October 9 to bid adieu to legendary Mexican singer Jose Jose who passed away last month. Following his death, Mexico had national mourning and a dramatic family dispute. He was one of the most successful Latin American singers ever. He had a voice and collection of heartbreaking songs which got him a huge popularity along with universal critical acclaim. Jose was buried at the French Pantheon cemetery in the presence of his family and former Mexican leaders.

Mass display of Coffin

A lot of people along with police escort, rushed to the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City while his golden colour coffin was being taken. The coffin was then placed on a red carpet and there was a huge picture of the singer with a Spanish quote. The coffin stayed there for a while for mass display so that people could pay their last respects to the singer. The people collected there with tears in their eyes to look at their favourite singer one last time. His elder daughter Marysol sang a hymn remembering her father.

Jose died after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer

Jose Jose died on 28 September at the age of 73 in Homestead hospital, Florida. Two years ago in March, he made an announcement that he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Half of his ashes were flown to Mexico City in a Mexican Air Force plane from Miami suburb in Florida, where he died while the other half remained over there. The late singer was living in Miami since the beginning of the year 2018 with his youngest daughter Sarita, the child he had from his last marriage. Sarita wanted to take her father's mortal remains back to Mexico whereas his elder children from previous marriage Jose Joel and Marysol Estrella insisted taking the body to the deceased's native place.
