The veracity of Sandra Bullock's 2009 film The Blind Side, has come under a cloud as Michael Oher filed a petition alleging his adoption to be a lie.

The story of the film is now in the limelight for an unexpected reason. Michael Oher, the man whose life inspired The Blind Side's story, has gone stated that the story of his adoption is a lie.

Michael Oher reveals his adoption to be a lie
Michael Oher has filed a petition in a Tennessee Probate Court against his 'adoptive' parents Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy. The bone of contention is the Tuohy pair lying to Oher about adopting him. About 2 decades ago, Oher was allegedly made to sign a conservatorship - the terms of which are very different from adoption.

Oher has asked for the conservatorship to be terminated. Not just this, he has asked for all the dues owed to him for everything that has been earned by the Tuohys, using his name and story, with interest. Oher has also stated that the Tuohy's have milked his name and story by wrongly presenting themselves as his adoptive parents when in fact, this was never the case.
The Tuohys have reacted
The Tuohys have hired a panel of three lawyers to represent them, They are "devasated" by these recent developments. Sean Tuohy has revealed that the conservatorship was done to accommodate the demands of the NCAA at the time of looking for colleges to send Oher to. He has said, "It’s upsetting to think we would make money off any of our children. But we’re going to love Michael at 37 just like we loved him at 16." Despite these statements it is also true that the Tuohys never tried to take Michael Oher's full custody. The conservatorship was filed mere months after Oher's 18th birthday in 2004.
