Miley Cyrus opens up on life choices, makes offensive LGBTQ remark
Singer Miley Cyrus went live on Instagram on October 20 along with latest love interest Cody Simpson where she offended the LGBTQ community over 'gay' remark.
Miley Cyrus came under fire of social media users for saying that women “don’t have to be gay” because “there are good men out there”. The American star made the comment in an Instagram live story on Sunday and offended the LGBTQ community over her 'gay' remark.
Getting candid about her relationship with musician Cody Simpson who she started dating recently, Miley said that she is really thankful to him as he could help her fall in love once again in life.
"I was just being like, I don't know, hardcore feminist vibes and just not allowing anyone in," she said during her livestream while telling people that good men still exist and one should not give up. She then added, "You don't have to be gay," while explaining that women can get what they want, they just have to find the right man. Her comment sparked discussion online where users slammed the singer for disrespecting the community.
Raves about romance
The 26-year-old singer got married to her lover Liam Hemsworth in 2018 after dating for about a decade. The couple announced their split in August this year after which Miley started dating a woman Kaitlynn Carter, with whom she broke up after a month. Cyrus said that she thought she had to become gay as all men are evil, which she later realised is actually not true. She said that after she stopped paying attention to men, she found the one right person. She said, "I've only ever met one, and he's on this live," while her beau smiled listening to her comment. The couple has been good friends for a long time, but had started dating recently. The couple has not shied away from showing their fondness for each other on various occasions. Netizens have often criticised her for moving on too quickly after splitting with husband Hemsworth and later with girlfriend Carter.
Backlash for 'gay' comment
Her 'gay' comment did not go well with people all over especially the LGBTQ community. The Malibu singer tweeted a clarification on Monday. She tweeted that she was talking about 'sucky' guys. She also said that the LGBTQ did not choose their sexuality but were born with it. So it is her priority to protect them as she is a part of it too.
Cyrus' comments have received extreme reactions from the netizens. Some supported her while some said she should not have made such remarks on a live video.
