Famous rapper and pop singer Nicki Minaj has featured in a new song ‘Fendi’, on September 26, after she had announced her retirement through a tweet. The new PnB Rock song ‘Fendi’ also features Murda Beatz. Earlier this month, Minaj tweeted about her retirement, which came as a surprise, and said that the reason was because she wanted to have a family.
Called the tweet ‘abrupt and insensitive’
She later deleted the tweet calling it abrupt and insensitive and said that this should have been a ‘Queen Radio discussion’, Minaj’s radio show launched in 2018.
Awards and accolades
Minaj, 36, real name Onika Tanya Maraj, was born in Trinidad and Tobago and raised in Queens, New York City. She got recognition after releasing mixtapes Playtime Is Over (2007), Sucka Free (2008), and Beam Me Up Scotty (2009). She got her breakthrough though the album Pink Friday when the lead single ‘Your Love’ peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Billboard Rap Songs chart. She has also received numerous awards in her career including six American Music Awards, ten BET Awards, seven BET Hip Hop Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, and Four MTV Video Music Awards.
Controversies surrounding Minaj
Minaj, in her song ‘All Things Go’, revealed that she had an abortion as a teenager and that she stands by her decision even though it haunted her. She also claimed to be bisexual but later, in an interview, said that it was just to get attention. Last year, rapper Cardi B hurled a shoe at Minaj at Harper’s Bazaar ICONS party in New York City. The fight reportedly broke out after Minaj criticized Cardi for not being a good mother.
