Nicolas Cage To Be The Next Superman?

As the air of confusion is intensifying to whether Henry Cavill will take up the role of Superman in the upcoming ventures of the Superhero series. Superhero fans have already started speculating about who will replace the 'Man of Steel' star. Cavill has been featured as the 'The Last Son of Krypton' in the last three instalments, but it is now uncertain whether he will resume his role as Superman as reports suggest a split between the actor and the production house. Meanwhile, the internet has come up with a new face for the character. Netizens have identified American actor Nicolas Cage as a perfect fit for the role. They have put forward their opinion that the 'Ghost Rider' star should take up the role. It doesn't sound like a bad idea, however, the 54-years-old actor might look a bit too old to fit into the character.

Looking back at Cage's connection with the Superman, he was almost set to play the role of Superman in one of the sequels of the superhero movie by Tim Burton named 'Superman Lives'. He has even done with the pre-shoots for the film where he donned the blue-costume with the red cape. But the film never got a release because of having some issues with the script, and Cage's role as Superman was caged since then. However, the pictured of the Academy Award winner sporting the Superman suit had made its way up to the internet and has been widely lauded by the netizens.

As per reports, earlier in an interview Cage had revealed how much he wanted to take up the role of Superman and declared himself as a huge fan of the comic character. In fact, the 'Mandy' star named his son 'Kal-El' which is the alien name of Superman. Incidentally, he has played Superman's cameo by his voice in the 'Teen Titans Go!' the animated movie released earlier this year.

In the past, several actors have taken up the role of Superman. Henry Cavill took up the role of the oldest superhero in 2013 and was featured as the same in three films- 'Man of Steel' (2013), 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' (2016) and 'Justice League.' (2017). Reportedly, he was asked to play a cameo as Superman in DC's upcoming superhero film 'Shazam!' which stars Zachary Levi in the lead role. However, Hollywood Reporter stated on September 12 that Cavill had parted ways with the production company Warner Bros. after contract negotiations broke down.
