The Princess Bride might be set to make a come back with a newer, revised version. This has the internet divided as the 1987 cult film has a strong fan base. People seem to be over the edge on the decision to remake the iconic movie. The movie though well-acclaimed had only received moderate success at the time.
On the remake of the Princess Bride
In a recent interview with media, the producer of the 1987 film, Norman Lear stated that many people were enthusiastic about the remake of the film. Even though he refused to take names, he asserted that people are very invested in the original classic. This gave rise to a lot of traffic on Twitter. People came out in disagreement with the Producer's statement announcing on social media that all great things do not need to be remade.
Cary Elwes who played the film's hero, Westley, also spoke about his feelings in a tweet.
No need to panic
There is, however, no reason to panic yet as there has been no official confirmation of the news. With the mere mention of the idea, social media has blasted the plan. Many famous fans of the original, like the actor Jamie Lee Curtis, US senator Ted Cruz all declared the idea as “inconceivable”. Therefore, it is safe to assume that there is no reason to panic at the moment.
