Did you spot the real from the animated in the recent release ‘The Lion King?’ Yes, the action-adventure is not 100 per cent computerised since director Jon Favreau sneaked in a real shot in it, and no one realised. Favreau revealed how a real stunning shot of a sunset in Africa was inserted amid close to 1500 rendered shots created by animators and computer graphics artists to see if the audiences would notice. The reactions from audiences proved that he was successful in his trick.
As the recreation of the classic revenge tale is drawing footfalls in big numbers across the globe, Favreau shared the lone real still that was used in the movie. The actor-director posted a beautiful snap of the setting sun behind mountains and forests that was used at the beginning of the film.
“This is the only real shot in #TheLionKing. There are 1490 rendered shots created by animators and CG artists. I slipped in one single shot that we actually photographed in Africa to see if anyone would notice. It is the first shot of the movie that begins The Circle of Life,” he captioned the post on Instagram.
Netizens termed the filmmaker as a ‘mastermind’ for his ‘cool trick’ and termed the click as ‘mind-blowing’, ‘incredible,’ while many wrote that they did not realise it.
