‘Baazaar’ Movie Review: Saif Ali Khan-Rohan Vinod Mehra’s film a profitable investment for cine-goers

Saif Ali Khan is back on the celluloid and how. ‘Baazaar’ touted to be on the changing dynamics of share market and what comes along with it sees Saif, Rohan Vinod Mehra, Chitrangada Singh and Radhika Apte in lead roles. On many levels, it keeps up with the pace of the industry it tries to represent in the film keeping one at the edge of their seat with excitement. 

Setting The Scene 

The film opens with Saif Ali Khan’s prowess as the kingpin Shakun Kothari of the share market taking down his mentor’s company. This is followed by a story which runs parallel to his and is of equal significance starring Rohan Vinod Mehra. Both the stories run alongside each other until the two masterminds unite on-screen to create what holds the backbone of the film. 

Plot 

Shakun Kothari’s rise to fame as an investor who buys and sells companies for profit is laced with a murky past. Rizwan essayed by Rohan, on the other hand, hails from a small-town Allahabad and his thirst to earn name and fame makes his reach Mumbai. He also idolises Shakun and dreams of working in his company someday. On his arrival in Mumbai. contrary to what happens in real life, Rizwan gets a job within a couple of days by using his antics in an attempt to prove himself. Shakun on the other side is seen establishing himself as the ‘dare-not-mess with me’ tycoon, who can make or break anyone’s career in a jiffy. The clash of the Titans takes place at a party where both are present for work-related propositions. Radhika Apte, who portrays the role of Rizwan’s colleague turned girlfriend helps him at every baby step he takes towards making the giant leap. With money, power and fame, little did he know that all that glitters is not gold. 

Verdict 

The film revolves around Rohan Vinod Mehra’s character Rizwan who is ready to cross the line to seek power, money and fame without knowing the consequences it has to offer. Rohan, who has seemingly tapped the pulse of his character, shines in the film where it was easy to become invisible with stars like Saif, Radhika and Chitrangada in the forefront. Saif has done complete justice to the role of shrewd businessman Kothari along with Radhika, who easily fits into each role she has to essay on-screen and does it with absolute conviction. Chitrangada as Kothari’s first love and wife puts forth a shade of hers on the celluloid that’s never seen before. ‘Baazaar’ is a profitable investment for those who seek thrill with a good content backed film this weekend.
