Mardaani 2: Rani Mukerji speaks on the 'shocking' subject of the film

Rani Mukerji is back with the second instalment of her movie Mardaani’s franchise, Mardaani 2. The first look of Mardaani 2 was recently released by the filmmakers, Yash Raj Films on their official Instagram account. In it, Rani Mukerji was seen donning a cop uniform, looking all furious and fearless in the first look picture of the movie. In Mardaani, Rani played a fearless police officer who busted a human trafficking racket while investigating the case of a kidnapped teenager. In Mardaani 2, she will take on yet another formidable antagonist. Rani will be reportedly hunting down a remorseless serial killer who rapes and murders young women. 

Shivani Shivaji Roy (Rani's character in the film) will be seen on the big screen on December 13, 2019. In a recent interview, Rani gave away some details about Mardaani 2. She revealed that the film will deal with a shocking subject.

In an interview with ANI, Rani commented on her selection of films. She said, “In Mardaani 2, we will again tackle a subject that will be shocking; it will show something very real, very alarming to audiences and make them aware of what's happening in and around our lives".

In an earlier interview, Rani also shared that Mardaani was an extraordinary script and will always be close to her heart. Post the first instalment's release, she was often asked whether she wished to be a part of Mardaani 2 and her answer was always positive, as per her interview. Now that the movie’s announcement is officially done, the audience's reaction is also positive. Fans seem to be eagerly waiting for the trailer release, However, no trailer or teaser announcement has been made as yet.

Also, Mardaani 2 is produced by Aditya Chopra. The film’s official Instagram account reposted a post from YRF official handles thanking Rani. The post talked about her performance in the previous movie and their excitement to work with her again. The account also had several other updates on the film.
