Spider-Man: Far From Home review | The MCU venture is a light-hearted refreshment post Avengers: Endgame

After 'Avengers: Endgame' Marvel fans were eagerly waiting for 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' as it has a lot of explaining to do about what's coming up next in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now the film finally has hit the theaters, let's see what's it all about.

Setting the scene

The film is set after the massive 'Endgame' snap and the heroic death of Tony Stark. It shows our friendly neighborhood Spiderman stuck between his 16-year-old self and being an Avenger. He has got a lot of fame, and now, however, wants to take a break from his superhero responsibilities. He sets out for a vacation with his friends Ned, MJ, and the rest of the gang to European and plans to express his feelings for MJ during the summer getaway.

Plot 

Since you cannot just escape from who you are, the SHIELD hacks Peter's summer vacation midway and calls him back on duty after some suspicious activities wreck havoc. The low self-esteemed, pain-stricken, 'not in a mood to save the world' Peter had to juggle between his summer getaway and fighting deadly monsters. Meanwhile, Quentin Beck aka 'Mysterio' who happens to be from a parallel universe comes in rescue and helps him fight the elemental creatures. Believing that the world needs an 'Iron Man' to protect it and being much-impressed by Beck's superpowers, Peter hands over the one very special gift Tony left for him.   

Verdict

The film is a delight to watch. As expected it gives fans an insight into how's the atmosphere is, post the intergalactic battle in Endgame. While this is the first film in the franchise where Tony Stark is physically absent, his reference is all over. Peter said it right in the trailer- wherever he goes, he sees him. After the intense roller-coaster ride of 'Avengers: Endgame', 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' is kind of a light-hearted refreshment. However, it does have some emotional moments mixed with humour that are sure to make fans chuckle. After all, "Tony Stark is dead but he is still the hero!"

While 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' is a stand-alone film, it has quite a number of dots connecting the past and the future of the MCU. It has some interesting surprise in the end-credits, that might leave fans baffled. From being the friendly neighborhood Spider-man to fighting the 'Endgame' battle, Tom Holland has done absolute justice to the role. Kirsten Caroline as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned (Peter's best friend) has also done a remarkable job. Also, the sweet sixteen romance of Peter and MJ is sure to make the viewers go 'aww'.

What works: The actors did a great job. There are some interesting twists and revelations in the film which are unmissable. 

What doesn't: Coming right after the massive 'Avengers: Endgame', the film looks a bit dim. There is not much depth in the story.
