It's been over 19 years that Adnan Sami relocated to India from Pakistan and acquired an Indian passport. The singer time and again receives flak on social media for the same. And once again on August 14 (Pakistan's Independence Day), a user asked him why hasn't he tweeted on India's Independence. To this, Sami replied, "I will tomorrow" and he did. The singer shared a poem and wished the country on its 73rd Independence Day.
Take a look -
Back in June, singer Adnan Sami's Twitter account was allegedly hacked on Tuesday by Ayyildiz Tim, the same Turkish hacker group, Ayyildiz Tim, which attacked megastar Amitabh Bachchan's microblogging page a day ago.
Similar to how Bachchan's profile was compromised, the group replaced Sami's profile picture with a photo of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and changed the bio, adding "Ayyildiz Tim Love Pakistan" with an emoji of Pakistani and Turkish flags.
Sami previously held a Pakistani passport and received Indian citizenship in 2015.
The group had previously hacked Twitter accounts of actors Shahid Kapoor and Anupam Kher among others as well.
On the professional front, Filmmaker Mira Nair is collaborating with playback singer Adnan Sami for a Broadway production of her 2001 film "Monsoon Wedding". Nair is making a musical stage version of her critically acclaimed film, which centred around a dysfunctional Indian family as they prepare for their daughter's wedding. The film featured Naseeruddin Shah, Lillete Dubey, Shefali Shah, and Vasundhara Das.
"The movie is being recreated for the US stage audience as a lavish mainstream Broadway musical extravaganza with the lead played by the versatile singer Adnan Sami," a source close to the project said.
