Indian rapper Brodha V paid a special tribute to the Father of our Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary by renditioning the famous Vaishnava Jana To bhajan with a mix of boom rap and classical music. The Hindu bhajan, written in the 15th century by poet Narsinh Mehta - a Gujurati poet, speaks about the life, ideals, and mentality of the Vaishnava Jan - the followers of Lord Vishnu. The song was very famous among the freedom fighters of India including Mahatma Gandhi, with the song being rendered as a bhajan in his Sabarmati Ashram. The bhajan has been used in many movies across the country to depict various scenes and the latest reprise comes from Brodha V who is known to add the rap flavour with a classical touch to an old song. The Ministry of External Affairs released a video in which artists from over 124 countries came together to sing the bhajan 'Vaishnava Jana To' in order to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th anniversary. It is also believed that this bhajan was Mahatma Gandhi's favourite along with 'Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram'.

PM Modi pays tribute Mahatma Gandhi

PM Modi explained the contributions of Mahatma Gandhi towards building a nation in his video message. He said, “The whole world is celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. His message of truth and non-violence is still relevant in the context of peace, progress, and development in the world. Mahatma Gandhi never tried to create a forceful impact through his life, but his life became the reason of inspiration to all. His commitment to his principles made him denounce seven perversions in life. These seven distortions cited by Mahatma Gandhi are still relevant. The sevens things include wealth without work, pleasure without conscience, knowledge without character, business without ethics, science without humanity, religion without sacrifice and politics without principles. Whether its climate change or terrorism, corruption or social life compelled by interest, Gandhi Ji’s principles help us in saving humanity. I am sure that this path shown by Gandhi Ji’s will help in the development of a better world.”
