Javed Akhtar To Pen The Lyrics For Ashutosh Gowariker's film 'Panipat'

Veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar is all set to pen the words for Ashutosh Gowariker's film 'Panipat'. The film features eminent Bollywood celebrities such as Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles. The historic film is based on the third battle of Panipat, that took place in 1761. 'Panipat' is the eighth collaboration between singer-songwriter Javed Akhtar and Ashutosh Gowariker. The duo has worked together on other films which include 'Lagaan', 'Swades', 'Jodhaa Akbar' and 'Mohenjo Daro' to name a few.

The news of Gowariker collaborating with Akhtar was broken by the filmmaker itself who took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter to make the big announcement. Although Javed Akhtar will pen the lyrics of the song, ace-composers Ajay-Atul will be working on the music of the film. For the film, Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor is said to play the role of Maratha leader Sadashivrao Bhau while Sanjay Dutt will be seen portraying the role of  Ahmad Shah Durrani. Reportedly, art director Nitin Desai will recreate the Shaniwar Wada for the film at the ND studios.

'Panipat' is slated to release on December 6, 2019, and will be produced by Sunita Gowariker and Rohit Shelatkars Vision World. Ace designer, Neeta Lulla is said to design the costumes for the project. Recreating history has always been Ashutosh Gowariker’s forte, and one can say for sure that fans cannot wait to see the cinematic magic that is going to be created on the silver screen again by the filmmaker. Earlier, there were various rumours going around that Kiran Deohans, was being considered for cinematography for the film, and thus dismissing all speculations, the filmmaker posted a tweet clarifying the same.
