Actor Pawan Kalyan Is A True Power Star. Here's Why
Actor Pawan Kalyan who has worked predominantly in the Telugu film industry turned 47 on September 2, 2018
Pawan Kalyan, the Power Star of Telugu cinema belongs to one of the biggest cinema family of south India. Pawan Kalyan who made his acting debut in 1996 is the youngest brother of south star Chiranjeevi. He boasts of a successful career down south with 25 films to his credit in the past two decades in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Kannada languages combined. Over the years, Pawan Kalyan ah donned the hat of a producer, director, actor, screenwriter, stunt coordinator, playback, sticking true to his title of Power star.
The Actor
Pawan Kalyan made his acting debut with the Telugu film ‘Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi’ in 1996. The following two films were remakes of the Tamil films Gokulathil Seethai and Love Today. During his first film, the actor was named as Kalyan Kumar and took up the screen name of Pawan Kalyan after ‘Gokulamlo Seeta’.
In 2004, Pawan Kalyan made a cameo appearance in ‘Shankar Dada M.B.B.S’, in which the titular role was played by his brother Chiranjeevi and it was the remake of ‘Munnabhai M.B.B.S’. He received his first Filmfare nomination for the film ‘Kushi’ in the year 2001. For the 2012 film 'Gabbar Singh' the actor got several awards for Best actor including Filmfare Award, Hyderabad Times Film Award, SIIMA Award and CineMAA Award.
He was last seen in the film 'Agnyaathavaasi' which was directed by Trivikram Srinivas and released in early January this year.
Behind The Camera Work
In the 2003 film ‘Johnny’, the power star donned the role of a director, choreographer, writer and actor. He played a kickboxer in the film and it is the only film directed by him. Produced by Allu Arvind the film tanked at the box office.
Before his acting debut, he had produced three films starring Chiranjeevi as K.Kalyan under the banner of Anjana Productions. Later he produced, Sardar Gabbar Singh' and ‘Chal Mohan Rang’ in 2016 and 2018 respectively. While ‘Sardar Gabbar Singh’ did fairly well at the box-office, ‘Chal Mohan Rang’ failed to impress the audience.
From 1999 to 2004, the actor has also worked as a stunt coordinator for films like ‘Thammudu’, ‘Kushi’, ‘Badri’ and ‘Johnny’ among others. That was not all, the actor has also tried his hand at playback singing and has rendered his voice for some of the songs from his film including 'Thati Chettu', 'Killi Killi', 'Kaatama Rayudaa' among others. His latest song is from the film ‘Agnyaathavaasi’, titled ‘Kodakaa Koteswar Rao’.
The Politician
In 2014, the actor found his own political party ‘Jana Sena’ meaning People’s Army in Telugu. He had also extensively campaigned for Telugu Desam Party and BJP to join hands in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In 2016, the actor announced that his party will be contesting the 2019 elections.
