Comedian Manoj Prabhakar got abusive messages from self-proclaimed fans of South Indian actor Mahesh Babu. This came after a video of the comedian from a year ago went viral on the internet. In the video, Manoj is seen making fun of Mahesh Babu's lack of facial expression. He compared his expression to that of Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif and termed him as the male version of the 'Tiger Zinda Hai' actress. Manoj mocked at Mahesh Babu's acting in his film 'Spyder'. He even criticised his role as a hacker and compared it to Mark Zuckerberg's infamous Cambridge Analytica scam.  Taking a dig at Mahesh Babu's lack of facial expression, he joked that when Mahesh Babu’s personal WhatsApp account was hacked, all that could be found were emojis with a single expression. He also said that in the film, SJ Suryah did a better job as a villain than the protagonist.

However, the jokes did not go down well with fans of the actor, who targeted Manoj Prabhakar with vile comments on his social media account. The fans demanded that he apologise on stage and even make a video on the same. Some fans openly threatened the comedian saying that if he fails to apologise on stage, he will have to face the consequences.

Manoj Prabhakar was quick to apologise through a long detailed post on Facebook. In the post he explained, "The entire one hour video is a mock award show and it clearly starts with a disclaimer. So the intention of the show was not to hurt anyone." In the video, he was seen making fun of the movie 'Spyder', which apparently offended the Telugu audience. The comedian clarified that all his comments were with respect to the Tamil version of the film, as he had not seen the Telugu version. Further talking about him making jokes on the actors' facial expression he said, "I have said that the lead actor in the movie has not performed well and that is my personal opinion. All my comments were with respect to only that one movie alone. So the intention was not to defame or hurt anyone's sentiment here."

He even replied to the people who called him ugly. He stated, "I request you, people, to not waste time by calling me ugly, because I am completely aware of the fact that I am ugly. In my personal opinion, no one is beautiful our ugliness is just delayed. So please wait for your day."

He further wrote, "Please consider this post as my personal explanation, clarification and apology for whatever has happened. We all are humans, we all do make mistakes. And I am still learning."

In another post on September 14, the comedian apologised and hoped that everything has been cleared. Addressing Telugu cinema fans, Mr Mahesh Babu fans and Mr Mahesh Babu himself, Manoj said, "If at all if anything was hurtful or if it did hurt anyone's sentiment, then it wasn't intentional and my sincere sorry and apologies for the same."
