Since the 1980s, orange pieces of the beloved cat with the self-satisfied grin and the 'I hate Mondays' face has been appearing reminisces a local French farmer.
In 2018 alone, more than 200 phones- sometimes in one piece, sometimes broken into cheeto-like chunks have been appearing along a 15-mile stretch of beach near Breast, France. Environmentalists apprehensive of the ecological consequences of these phones, have been wondering what is the source of this 'pollution'.
Finally, on Friday, it was revealed that a shipping container which had gotten stuck in a submerged cave during low tide in the 1980s had blown up. The container's cargo housing a large shipment of Garfield phones was regurgitating these pieces at regular intervals due to tidal movement.
While the mystery has been solved, Garfield will still continue to arrive to sunbathe on the shores of France as the container is wedged in an inaccessible spot. 'Telephone Garfield' may have to continue wiping the grinning Garfield off their shores.
