The year hasn’t even reached the halfway mark, and Mammootty at the age of 67, is gearing up for his third release in two months. After ‘Perambu’ and ‘Yatra’, the veteran once again shows his versatility, this time with an out-and-out mass film ‘Madhura Raja’. The trailer of the movie was unveiled recently, and it promises to be a commercial potboiler.
‘Madhura Raja’ brings back Mammootty’s character of a don from the 2010 hit ‘Pokkiri Raja’ also starring Prithviraj and Shriya Saran and which was later adapted for Akshay Kumar’s ‘Boss.’ However, this is not a sequel.
Like the original, one can see Nedumudi Venu boasting about his son coming to his rescue in a crisis while Siddique and other cops are among the troublermakers. Unlike Prithviraj-Shriya, it is Jai-Mahima Nambiar who are under threat and Mammootty is there to protect everyone. However, the main plot revolves around Mammootty’s face-off with a politician played by Jagapati Babu.
From one-liners to some massy action stunts, fans of Mammootty and lovers of this genre of films are set to have a ball in the theatre. With dialogues in Tamil and Thalaiva playing in the background, there’s no prizes for guessing which actor you might be reminded of.
One of the highlights is set to be a dance number featuring Sunny Leone, a debut for her in Malayalam after Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. It was a few weeks ago that a picture of Mammootty, and the actress had gone viral.

The movie also stars Narain, Aju Varghese, Ramesh Pisharody, Salim Kumar, Anusree and others.
‘Madhura Raja’, like ‘Pokkiri Raja’ is helmed by Vysakh, and reportedly hits the theatres on April 12 in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu.
