Malayalam actress Manju Warrier, crew stranded in Himachal Pradesh

Malayalam cinema actress Manju Warrier and Sanal Kumar Sasidharan have reportedly been stranded in Himachal Pradesh amid the flood in the state. Efforts are on.

Malayalam actress Manju Warrier and the crew of a recent film she is shooting have reportedly been stranded in Himachal Pradesh amid the floods in the state. The team has been trying to get in touch with the higher authorities, who are looking into the situation. As per reports, Manju, director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan and the crew are stuck in Chhatru, 100 kms away from Manali in Himachal Pradesh. The team had reached the location on July 25.

The team got stuck due to the floods derailing the road connectivity in the area. Moreover, Manju and the team are struggling for food, since their supply for two days is over. Reports claimed Manju contacted her brother Madhu Warrier over the satellite phone. He then got in touch with Union minister of State for External Affairs, V Muraleedharan. The Minister reportedly contacted Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and the efforts to rescue the crew is underway.

Flood fury: 

As per reports, 58 people have been killed in rain-related incidents in five states, including Himachal Pradesh in the last few days. In HP, reportedly 24 have been killed. Himachal Pradesh received a record rainfall on Sunday. Landslides have been reported from Himachal Pradesh, and videos of them had also surfaced. The forecast for the next two days in Manali, however, looks fine as partly cloudy sky or generally cloudy sky with light rain is being forecast for the next 48 hours. Meanwhile, Bollywood stars have been contributing. Akshay Kumar, Riteish-Genelia Deshmukh, Amitabh Bachchan have made donations over the last month over the floods in areas like Assam, Maharashtra, among others.

Manju is among the most accomplished actresses in Malayalam cinema. She had featured in the blockbuster ‘Lucifer’ alongside Mohanlal, Tovino Thomas,  Vivek Oberoi, among others earlier this year. She had played the role of Vivek Oberoi’s wife in the movie. 'Lucifer' was directed by Prithviraj. The film reportedly hit the Rs 200-crore-mark in worldwide collections. The sequel of the movie has also been announced. She is also set to star in ‘Asuran’ opposite Dhanush. Sanal Kumar Sasidharan is known for the controversial ‘S Durga’ (earlier titled ‘Sexy Durga) that had run into a row with the censor board in 2017.
