After Baahubali 2, SS Rajamouli to reunite with Prabhas in Kalki 2898 AD?

Kalki 2898 AD, a much-awaited sci-fi fantasy film, is nearing its final stages of production. The film features pan-India star Prabhas in the lead role and marks the Telugu cinema debut of Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone. In an interesting turn of events, reports have surfaced about a renowned director making a cameo appearance in the film.

The sci-fi film, which is slated to hit the theatres next year, stars an ensemble cast including Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Disha Patani. As per the latest updates, RRR filmmaker SS Rajamouli will be appearing in a cameo role in Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD. Rajamouli and Prabhas have previously worked together in Baahubali and Baahubali 2. Earlier, reports of Dulquer Salmaan making a special appearance in the film were doing the rounds on the internet. The rumours began after an industry tracker Christopher Kanagaraj revealed on his X account that pan-India star Dulquer Salmaan might also make a cameo appearance in the film.

Neither confirming nor denying the reports, the King of Kotha actor said, "I can't reveal anything about Project K, but I visited the set and was blown away. I thought only Nagi (Nag Ashwin) could think like that. He is the director who surprises you. And the sets were so interesting and it was all in his imagination."

Who's saying what?

According to a report in Pinkvilla, director SS Rajamouli had no intentions of being a full-time actor, but the makers of Kalki 2898 AD have reportedly convinced him to take on a special role in the Prabhas-Deepika Padukone starrer. The filmmaker is not new to the idea of making special appearances in his own films and advertisements. While both the film's team and Rajamouli himself have not officially confirmed these reports, the potential of his cameo has sparked excitement among fans.

Prabhas and Deepika Padukone are busy with the shooting of Kalki 2898 AD. Helmed by Nag Ashwin, the makers unveiled the title of the film at the San Deigo Comic Con event last month. In the film, Kamal Haasan will reportedly play the role of an antagonist who will clash with Prabhas and his troop, including Deepika. Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan will reportedly play the role of Prabhas' guru.
