Baahubali actor Sathyaraj says he loves being called Kattappa, thanks SS Rajamouli

Actor Sathyaraj is currently gearing up for the release of Weapon. The trailer of the film was launched in Mumbai and at the event, the actor spoke highly of the Baahubali film series. He also expressed gratitude towards director SS Rajamouli for offering him the role of Kattappa in the movie.

Sathyaraj says his role as Kattappa is a gift

Veteran actor Sathyaraj spoke about his role as Kattappa at the trailer launch event of his film Weapon. He said, "Calling an actor by the name of their character is a gift. After Baahubali, if you called me Kattappa Sathyaraj, then after this film you will call me Weapon Sathyaraj. I like this because that is like a credit to the actor. I never had a problem with this. I love when people call me by the name of my character. For me, that means the success of an actor."

Sathyaraj expresses gratitude towards Rajamouli

During the trailer launch event, Sathyaraj was asked whether he knows how famous he has become. Responding to the question, he said, "After the role of Kattappa, I realised this. We went to the Fiji Islands for a party. There everybody saw the film 'Baahubali' and recognised me as Kattappa. I was very happy that I played the character." 

Thanking the Baahubali director, he further said, "Once Rajamouli Garu had gone to Japan and Pakistan for the premiere of 'Baahubali'. There he asked a person in the shop, "who is your favourite character'', to which the person exclaimed, "Kattappa". This popularity is only because of the great director, SS Rajamouli. Thank you for giving me a character like Kattapa."
