Kushi Box Office Collection Day 2: Samantha film earns $1 million in US, sees dip in India

Kushi is a romantic drama headlined by Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Vijay Deverakonda. Released in multiple languages, the film hit the big screens on September 1. The movie opened to a good reception but saw a decline on its second day.

Kushi sees a dip on the second day 

After getting a good headstart on the opening day, the Samantha Ruth Prabhu starrer witnessed a decline in the collection on its second day. The film was able to mint only ₹9 crore at the domestic box office. Though the collection seems decent, given that it was a weekend and the film was released to no competition, the numbers are bleak.

The two-day collection of the film stands at ₹24.25 crore. The romantic drama made ₹15.25 crore on its opening day, making it Samantha and Vijay’s career-best opener. Since both Samantha and Vijay’s last outings were box-office failures, it remains to be seen if Kushi can turn out to be a redeemer. 

Kushi works well overseas 

Though the film’s domestic numbers are below par, especially on its second day, the overseas collection paints a pretty picture. The film has minted $1 million at the USA box office in two days. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala shared that Kushi is the 17th movie of Samantha to breach the million-dollar mark.

Bala also claimed that Samantha is the only South-Indian actor to have 17 movies straight that earned more than a million dollars at the USA box office. The Citadel actress took to her social media to express her excitement over this feat. She shared the post on her Instagram stories and wrote, “Amerikaaaa you have my whole heart”.
