Mohanlal's directorial debut Barroz to hit theatres on this date

Mohanlal will also be making his directorial debut this year with Barroz. The release date of the film was unveiled by its makers on Sunday.

Mohanlal recently made an appearance in Rajinikanth starrer Jailer. For his lead acting projects, the actor will be seen in Vrushabha and Malaikottai Vaaliban. Additionally, Mohanlal will also be making his directorial debut this year with Barroz, the release date of which was unveiled on Sunday.

When is Barroz releasing? 

Barroz will be making its theatrical debut on December 21. In addition to the real characters, there will be a fully animated character in the film. The Lijo Jose Pellissery directorial is based on the story of a 400-year-old spirit that is tasked with protecting D' Gama's treasure until D' Gama's legitimate descendant can claim it. 

Re-recording of the film has been wrapped up in Los Angeles and the remaining production work will take place in Budapest, Hungary. Jijo Punnoose, known for the novel My Dear Kuttichathan, has provided the central narrative for the film, which is billed as a fantasy drama.

Talking about the film, the actor has previously said to Manorama News, "Special effects will be handled in India and Thailand. Most other aspects of the movie are now complete, and we are aiming for a December release this year."

What's next for Mohanlal? 

Other projects for Mohanlal this year include Vrushabha and Malaikottai Vaaliban. Vrushabha is co-produced by Ekta Kapoor and will be shot in two languages Telugu and Malayalam. The film will also get dubbed in Hindi, Tamil and Kannada. It features a storyline between a father and his son, and revenge will be the driving force of momentum for it.

Malaikottai Vaaliban, on the other hand, is directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. The film’s supporting cast includes Jiiva, Katha Nandi, Hareesh Peradi, Danish Sait, and Sonalee Kulkarni. It is currently in post-production.
