The makers of Prabhas starrer Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire have delayed the film's release from September 28 to another date. The team reassured fans that the new release date will be announced soon and final touches are being given to the Prashanth Neel directorial. Meanwhile, even before its release, the pan-India film has set a record, beating SS Rajamouli's magnum opus RRR.

3 things you need to know

  • Salaar will be a two-part film.
  • It will be connected to the Yash starrer KGF universe.
  • Before delay rumours, there were reports of Yash featuring in Salaar in a 5-minute role.

Salaar beats RRR, Leo and Adipurush

According to the makers, Salaar has struck a record deal for its non-theatrical rights. The makers of Prabhas starrer Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire have closed the OTT deal at a whopping price. The producers have cracked a Rs 350 crore deal as non-theatrical rights, which include satellite rights which have been obtained by Star Network, digital rights which are secured by Netflix in all the languages and audio deals that have been struck with DivoMusic.

This is a record as Salaar has beaten the likes of RRR, Jawan, Leo, Saaho, Dunki and Pathaan to achieve this feat. This is yet another testament to the film's massive pan-India popularity.

Salaar cast and plotline

Salaar is described as the story of the "most violent man". Prabhas will essay the titular role in Prashanth Neel's film. A teaser released earlier this year revealed the pan-India hands dripping with blood as he used all sorts of killing devices, including guns and a machete.

The film will also feature Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Eshwari Rao, Jagapathi Babu and Sriya Reddy.
