Rana Daggubati takes a swipe at Sonam Kapoor at King of Kotha event, later apologises

Rana Daggubati was one of the chief guests at the pre-release event of Dulquer Salmaan's upcoming movie King of Kotha in Hyderabad. At the event, he praised Dulquer for having great patience on the sets of his films and took a dig at Sonam Kapoor. However, after his speech went viral, he took to his social media handles to issue an apology.

Rana Daggubati apologises for his speech

Soon after Rana Daggubati's video went viral and people began to speculate that he was talking about Sonam, he took to his social media handle to issue an apology. He mentioned that he was troubled by the negativity that came Sonam's way due to his recent comments. The Baahubali actor revealed that the things he said were meant in a "light-hearted manner" and were untrue.

He further wrote, "As friends, we often exchange playful banter, and I deeply regret that my words have been misinterpreted. I take this opportunity to express my heartfelt apologies to Sonam and Dulquer, both of whom I hold in great esteem." He concluded his note by expressing gratitude and hoping that his clarification puts an end to all the misunderstanding and speculations.

What did Rana say at the KOK pre-release event?

At the pre-release event of King of Kotha, Rana Daggubati recalled scolding the producers of a Hindi film after a Bollywood actress made the entire crew wait. Rana refrained from mentioning the name of the movie or the actress and revealed that he went to meet him on the set just to find him speaking to a spot boy from Kerala. He added, "A top Bollywood heroine was talking to her husband over the phone. It was in-between takes. If it was anything urgent, it made sense, but they were shopping over the phone. Dulquer was patient. But, she forgot her lines and was distracted."
