Salaar release date: Prabhas starrer set to clash with big films after delay

Salaar will not hit the screens on its scheduled release date of September 28 due to "unforeseen circumstances", the makers announced Wednesday. In a statement on X, production house Hombale Films said it will reveal the new date of the Prabhas starrer in due course. This has given rise to speculation surrounding the film's new release date.

Makers confirm Salaar delay

While Salaar was earlier slated to release on September 28, no recent update from the makers gave rise to rumours that the film will be delayed. On Wednesday, the makers shared the disheartening news of the film's delay with fans of Prabhas. "We deeply appreciate your unwavering support for #Salaar. With consideration, we must delay the original September 28 release due to unforeseen circumstances," they shared in an official statement. 

"Please understand this decision is made with care, as we're committed to delivering an exceptional cinematic experience. Our team is working tirelessly to meet the highest standards. The new release date will be revealed in due course. Stay with us as we make the final touches on #SalaarCeaseFire and thank you for being a part of this incredible journey," the banner said in the post.

The first part of the pan-India film series, titled Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire, is billed as a big-budget action adventure. It is directed by Prashanth Neel of the KGF franchise fame and produced by Vijay Kiragandur. The film will also feature Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Eshwari Rao, Jagapathi Babu and Sriya Reddy.

When can Salaar release on the big screens?

A clash for the Prabhas starrer is inevitable. The film was positioned well when it was releasing on September 28. The long weekend at the time would have worked to its advantage. However, that is a lost opportunity now. 

There are three release dates that are being eyed by the makers, as per reports. They are November 24, December 22 and January 11. However, Salaar will have to clash with one or more big films on these dates. According to the current release calendar, the films releasing on and around the aforementioned dates are-- 

November 24-- Emergency, starring Kangana Ranaut
December 1-- Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor
December 22-- Dunki, directed by Rajkumar Hirani
December 25: Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom, starring Jason Momoa
January 11-- Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone
January 12-- Guntur Kaaram, starring Mahesh Babu

Meanwhile, fans eagerly await the official announcement of Salaar's new release date, which is expected to come from the production team shortly.
