Song Joong Ki is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film 'Hopeless'. Ahead of the film's release, the actor opened up about how his second wife Katy Louise Saunders is facing the brunt of his failed marriage with Song Hye Kyo during a press conference. The ex-couple got divorced in 2019.

Song Joong Ki revealed how a journalist once penned a fictitious narrative, disparaging his wife, Katy Louise Saunders. He expressed his disappointment, highlighting the responsibility journalists should bear for their words.

"There was a journalist who wrote a novel about my wife. I told my company employees not to provide feedback. I was hurt a lot when I saw someone writing a made-up novel about a woman and not taking responsibility. If I felt that way, my wife must have felt even more hurt. My wife responded by saying, ‘There are media outlets in the UK that write novels too,’ but I’m sure she was hurt inside,” he said. 

'My wife asked me to not make a fuss about attending Cannes'

The actor praised Katy Louise Saunders and attributed her with the credit for grounding him and nurturing his values. He described her as down-to-earth and a source of calm in his life. According to Song Joong Ki, his wife's positive personality softens his anger and provides valuable life lessons. "My wife has already attended big film festivals, so when we went to Cannes this time, she told me not to get too excited or make a fuss," he said.
