Apple TV Plus renews four web series after encouraging first-week data

Apple has confirmed the second season of the four drama series that aired on Apple TV+ last week but didn't reveal any details about its subscriber base.

Apple has confirmed the second season of the four drama series that aired on Apple TV Plus last week. See, For All Mankind, Dickinson, and The Morning Show got the green signal for their second season. The tech giant has not revealed any details about its current subscriber base and viewership. 

The Morning Show, a web series inspired by journalist Brian Stelter's book, Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV, featured Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston and premiered on Apple TV+ on November 1. The web series is all set for its next season of 10 episodes, reported an entertainment magazine. 

Encouraging numbers

The online streaming service has reportedly got millions of subscribers and on an average, they are spending more than an hour on Apple’s platform. But there not been any clarity over the number of paid subscribers and customers availing seven-day trial service. Sources in the company claimed that there has been encouraging traffic on the platform and the activity spiked after the opening day. According to reports, the early numbers established that the audience were keen on watching more episodes after watching the first one of the core four series.

Future of the platform

Three episodes of all the shows except Dickinson were premiered on the first day of launch and the next three episodes were aired on November 8. The viewership of the next three episodes will set the tone for the future of the platform. All the episodes of Dickinson, an American period black comedy web television series, was aired on the launch day and its second season was ordered even before its premiere. The online streaming platform has also a set of series for kids but the traction on it is not available.

Production companies behind the web series

While Dickinson is produced by Wiip and Anonymous Content, See has been produced by Chernin Entertainment and Endeavor Content. Sony Pictures Television is behind For All Mankind while Media Res, Hello Sunshine and Echo Films are the home of The Morning Show.
